Beverly Girls Lacrosse is headed by José Colón. Coach Colón’s career began at Jamaica High School in Queens, NY, where he was named team captain, most valuable player (MVP), and was New York City's first high school All-American lacrosse player, earning him athlete of the year honors from his high school. Coach Colón was fortunate to also play in the Empire Estate Games and was named to the North/South All-American team his senior year.
He later led Farmingdale Community College in Long Island, NY to a national championship. He was team MVP and received All-American honors and was named to the all-tournament team. Coach Colón continued his college lacrosse career at the University of Massachusetts.
Coach Colón has been an assistant coach at St. Ignatius College Prep and Brother Rice High School. At the latter he was named Illinois High School Assistant Coach of the Year and was the inaugural inductee into its lacrosse hall of fame. He has also coached youth programs at elite universities such as the University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University. He recently led the eighth grade Beverly Lacrosse team to its first Southland League Championship and was asked to lead the Marist HS girl’s program into the future and was recently named ESCC Conference coach of the year & voted by his peers as HS Coach of the Year for the state of Illinois.
